Say hello to: CERATOSAURUS

Ceratosaurus

CERATOSAURUS (sayr-AT-o-sawr-us) "Horned Lizard" (Greek kerat- horned + sauros = lizard, referring to its nose horn)

A 20 foot (6m) Jurassic CARNOSAUR. It was related to ALLOSAURUS and resembled that dinosaur, but it had a blade-like HORN on its nose, and four fingered HANDS. Ceratosaurus is the only known SAURISCHIAAN with a horn. Like Allosaurus, Ceratosaurus had a huge head, saber-like TEETH, bony knobs above its eyes, and short front legs. This powerful hunter walked on two legs with its long, heavy TAIL extended to balance its head. Its FOSSILS have been found in western North America and in Tanzania. A complete skeleton was found in Colorado.
